A research agreement between AFD (Agence Française de Développement) and ONF International, involving the Rajasthan Forest Department was signed at the end of 2023 and for a 5 years period.
This partnership provides support for the assessment of carbon stocks in the forests of the State of Rajasthan, as well as for the possibility of setting up forest carbon credits.
An initial scoping mission has just been completed during ten days through the Rajasthan’s State.
Around thirty sites were identified (plantations on desert landscapes for dune fixation, climatic Dhok forests – Anogeissus Pendula -, etc.). It is now time to define the methodologies for quantifying forest and grasslands biomass.
